Don’t try to be like other artists. The most common mistake that independent artists make is trying to sound like someone else, or trying too hard to fit into a particular genre. You should be yourself and find your own sound instead of trying on someone else’s for size. It may take some time before you figure out what exactly makes your music unique, but once you do, it will set you apart from all other musicians in the world!
Similarly, don’t worry about what other people think about your voice (or any other aspect of yourself). This goes back up above where I mentioned being authentic–if someone doesn’t like how high-pitched my voice gets when I sing falsetto notes then oh well! That’s just part of my style; there are plenty more people who appreciate it than don’t appreciate it 🙂
As an independent artist, it’s important to make music that connects with your target audience. You have no label or manager telling you what to do and how to do it. This means that if you want to make the kind of music that will be successful in today’s market–and get noticed by fans and industry professionals alike–then you need to know who those people are and what they want from their artists.
You are the only person who can write your music, so be yourself and don’t try to be someone you’re not.
Being authentic means being honest and genuine with your audience. It’s okay to share your flaws, ask for help when needed, make mistakes, and admit when something isn’t working out as planned. Your authenticity will attract people who resonate with your message because they feel like they know you personally–and that’s what makes them want more from you!
It’s time to be genuine.
The key to understanding your target audience is knowing their demographics, interests, pain points and goals.
You also need to understand their dreams and fears. The more you know about them the easier it will be for you to connect with them on a deeper level.
As an independent artist, you have more opportunities than ever to get your music out there and build your fan base. New platforms are opening up to independent artists, giving them a chance to connect with their audience in new ways. These platforms are free and easy-to-use tools that can help any artist start building their fanbase from the ground up.
One of the best ways to build a community is by making music that connects with people. It’s not always an easy task, but it’s one that will pay off in the long-run. If you can make great art, people will want more of it and they’ll start talking about you online.
Then, when people are talking about your music online (which they will), what do they say? They may mention how much they love your latest single or album; maybe even give their opinion on why it’s so good! But what if those same people aren’t saying anything at all? What if there isn’t any buzz around your work? You need them engaged and excited about what you’re doing because this creates hype around whatever new release or campaign comes next from an artist like yourself who works hard on creating quality content consistently over time — which leads me directly into my next point…
Collaborating with other artists is a great way to expand your reach and get your music heard by their fans.
A lot of independent artists are making connections with other independent artists, and it’s a good way for them to collaborate on projects or even share resources. Collaboration can also be beneficial for helping you connect with fans of the other artist(s). We’ve seen people use collaborations as an opportunity to grow their audience by reaching new listeners who wouldn’t have found them otherwise!
To create a content calendar, you need to think about what you want to achieve with your music and how much time it will take. For example, if you have an album coming out in six months and want to promote it through social media posts and blog posts every week for three months before release date, that’s a lot of work!
So instead of trying to do this all at once, break down the task into manageable chunks:
If you’re an independent artist, now is an amazing time to get started! The music industry is changing and it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the changes.
The more you know about the changes and how they affect your career, the better you can adapt to them. The more knowledge you have about how to be successful as an indie artist, the better off your career will be.
